CORRIGAN GATE AT MAYFIELD CEMETERY

Honors Patrick Corrigan, long-time Superintendent

In April 2021 Anshe Chesed Fairmount Temple and The Temple - Tifereth Israel, who own Mayfield Cemetery, named the gate to the cemetery the CORRIGAN GATE to honor Patrick Corrigan, its just-retired Superintendent, for his more than 50 years of service.

Thanks Pat Corrigan

For being an amazing and gracious source of information on Mayfield and Willet Street Cemeteries.

It began years ago when I could not find the deed for the land that would become Mayfield Cemetery under the names of the congregations. Without hesitation you said "Look for Jacob Mandelbaum." I found the purchase in 1877 by Mandelbaum, a Tifereth Israel trustee and his conveyance of the deed the next day to Tifereth Israel. Another example is locating the almost-hidden grave of Moses Alsbacher, who led the group from Unsleben Bavaria here in 1839.

For your help sharing many tales of Cleveland Jewish history, I am sincerely grateful.
